You know how I was all bummed the other day, because I ran only 2.5 miles instead of three, and it was slow slow slow and all that?
It turns out that I am just map-tarded sometimes, and that I cut my route short on the map, on accident. I only discovered this today, as I [...]

this looks like it would be a lot of fun.
Carrie? Kelly? Denise? Other HCWs? Anyone else?
Just an idea for a fall activity.
Thoughts on this morning’s run

On days when it’s going to be humider than humid, do not hit the snooze for an hour. Just get up and go.
Also, do not wear long-ish spandex pants on humider than humid mornings. You will be sorry.
It’s time to get some new running shorts, be it spandex bike shorts, skorts, or honest-to-goodness running shorts. [...]

Okay, so it wasn’t my best run ever. But I did it, and I feel pretty good!
More later, after I shower and race-car-driver it to work!
Welcome!

To all who have been directed here by Carrie, Hello! I hope you find my blog at least a little bit interesting, if not moreso. I’m new to the whole blogosphere (outside of LJ, that is, which I tend to neglect from time to time). It’s been a great way for me to ramble on [...]
Cleared to run!

Thursday: 3 miles!
Doc suspects tendinitis, and that it is also irritating the ankle joint. I’m scheduled for two bouts of physical therapy before the race, and also have purchased insoles at the recommendation of the doc. He doesn’t believe it is dangerous for me to run on it, so that’s good. He also said that [...]
Good news! Maybe?

I was able to make an appointment with a sports med doc for July 2. Not ideal, but hey, better than nothing.
His nurse just called to get some preliminary information, and based upon what I told her, moved my appointment to noon, tomorrow. She thought it best to get me in ASAP to rule out [...]

Still not running. Though the major pain is gone, my foot has been swollen for the past several days. Today I have it wrapped, and iced.
I’m starting to get nervous.

TK is in the trenches today, so please say a prayer or think good thoughts for her and her husband, JD. She’s got a long road ahead of her.
My leg is feeling much better now, and I fully expect to be lacing up my shoes for training runs both Saturday and Sunday.
Mom is coming up [...]
On Fundraising

If you were to ask me which was harder, the fundraising or the training, I would definitely say the fundraising. Asking people for money definitely is outside of my “comfort zone”. However, the money goes towards a good cause, towards finding a cure for a painful and potentially life-threatening disease. My honored teammate is going [...]

Team Challenge National Team had our weekly conference call last night. Good information all around, as always. I was able to ask Coach Melissa about my lower calf pain, which got progressively worse yesterday. (Thanks to Elle for your suggestions. Massaging it did indeed help, along with icing it last night.)
Melissa said to rest it [...]

and they are positive! What was I waiting for?
Sunday’s long run went much better because I was able to stay hydrated and fueled. I filled the water bottles with Luna Sport electrolyte splash (lime flavor), and brought a Mango Clif Shot to have at the halfway mark (60 minutes). I took liquid at 20 minute [...]

For those of you not on certain other avenues of communication, here is an update on our lovely TK. I am paraphrasing to start, then copying her word-for-word:
She had a sigmoidoscopy earlier this week, and the results are in. Since she “had the surgery to reconnect on may 27, the entire 8 inches of colon/rectum left has [...]
Thursday was much better

My re-run of Tuesday’s route went much better on Thursday.
Differences: 6:15 AM start time, compared to 7:05 PM. My hydration level was much better – I made sure to drink plenty of water Wednesday night, even though that meant getting up once during the night to visit the bathroom. Also, drank some water and chewed [...]
