Tuesday was our travel day, back to Milwaukee. But Tuesday was also the day we were going to visit tk! I was looking forward to it the whole trip.
I talked to jd the night before, and asked if there was anything I could bring her. He indicated that she might ask for a coffee cake [...]

Joe, Joy, Denise and Karen at the pre-race dinner
I’m still trying to figure out how this uploading photos thing works, hence the non-uniform formatting business up there. But these are just a few pictures of the weekend. More to come when I figure it out.
Back on the horse

I got out and ran just under 2 miles this morning. Just an easy run, nothing too strenuous. The first mile went fine, after some wonkiness with the HRM not communicating correctly between the strap and the watch. Second mile, well, I did shorter run/walk intervals.
Groin muscle still not happy, apparently. But I’ll be resting [...]
Race Day – the extended version

4am. Time to get up. I never feel awake unless I shower in the morning, and race day is no different. Denise and I had smartly laid out our things the night before, so it wasn’t a rush-rush to get dressed. While Denise got ready, I braided my hair into pigtail braids – one down the left side and [...]
Race day

I finished. I shaved about 12 minutes off my time, but it wasn’t pretty. I’ll update more later, but that’s the initial report.
The tentative plan is to go see tk on Tuesday, and share race stories and photos!
Next half marathon – Chicago?

Scott says I should sign up for it if I want to. I have a $5 coupon. It’s September 14 – the weekend after our first anniversary (Sept 9).
What to do, what to do. It would keep me running, no doubt.
Last “long” training run

I was out the door at 5:15 this morning, to get in the final long run of training: 75 minutes. I ran past South Shore Park, where some folks were cleaning up from the Frolics, up to Russell, and back down to Saint Francis. The morning was cool and the sun wasn’t quite up yet. [...]

10 days to the Start!
We are in the final stretches now, and every day I get a little more excited. This morning I ran 3.17 miles, with my mind on the pace. I hope I’ve gotten faster, as I’d like to finish the race in 2:30. As I think about it now, though, that might be [...]

Bastille Days opens tomorrow in Cathedral Square Park, and tomorrow night a bunch of people will be storming the Bastille. There’s a 5K fun run and a 2 mile walk. This is the run that felt like I was running through soup two years ago, it was so hot and humid (and the water stations [...]

To be sure everyone tagged knows they’ve been invited [...]
More miscalculations

Apparently when I mapped my route yesterday, I cut .20 out on accident, and mapmyrun.com is having issues so it’s not letting me edit the route or anything. So my pace was a little better than I thought, as was my mileage.
Anyone want to help with the Garmin 405 fund?

Fundraising first: If you haven’t yet taken a moment to donate on my Team Challenge website, and still intend to, please take a look now! The half marathon is just 13 days away, and I need your help in order to reach my fundraising goals.
And now, the long run! I went out at 6:30 yesterday morning, planning [...]
Nike+ question
Posted in running, training, tagged nike+, running on July 7, 2008 | 1 Comment »
So in looking at the Nike+ Human Race possibility, and checking out the Nike+ stuff, a question comes to mind. Do I really need to have Nike+ ready shoes to use the products? The Sportband looks interesting, however I like my Asics just fine, thank you.
If yes, I should just save the $60 and put it [...]
