I owe you a race recap (which may or may not happen, as the race was 6 weeks ago!). The short of it is – I made it, fastest time yet, and tk and jd and Charles Dinersign (did I get that right?) were there to greet me. It was truly awesome.
Since the [...]

Five days running

That’s what I’m up to right now! This morning marked my fifth day in a row of running, -with no walk breaks-. This is a huge accomplishment for me, and I’m not sure where it came from, but I’ll take it.
All of my runs usually involve walk breaks. But since the half [...]
Kenosha, check. Next up, Racine!

The Lighthouse Run is Saturday, June 20th, and I will be there! Denise and I are registered for the 10-miler. (No, we are not attached at the hip. Really.)
It’s nice to have another race on the schedule, between now and Napa. Ten miles at that time will be nice preparation for [...]

Since I was up this morning at 6:30, I decided to go for a small run around the block. 1.15 miles, just enough to test the waters, so to speak. In reality, I could have gone for more probably, because that distance felt just enough to be a warm up!
But I completed the [...]

Friday:
I left work a little after 1pm, and picked up Denise at her house. We headed for REI to make sure we had all the fuel we needed for the race, and then to the spa at the Pfister for express pedicures. Pretty toes after the race take preparation before the race! [...]

Denise and I finished the half marathon! I got a PR along the way as well! Injury free and ready for more!
(Better race report later!)
The day approaches!

Saturday is just around the corner, and I am as ready as I’m going to get to run another half marathon. I went for two small runs on Tuesday and Wednesday, and it felt pretty good to get back into a rhythm.
The Wisconsin (half) Marathon will be my first half marathon in the state, [...]

Why is it, that the shorter the run, the longer I can put it off?
Anyway, I’m off now, I promise. It’s just two miles, despite the rain and damp and ick. I have my rain jacket to keep me dry, I’ll be fine.
When I get back, I’ll tell you have fabulous [...]
Yesterday was a fluke

Over four miles today, and my best split was 11:10. I averaged 11:28 over 4.4 miles, which is about what I usually do. I felt slow today, sluggish. Maybe it was the cold temperature (20*F) or the 15-20 mph winds, or possibly the busy streets I ran next to (Mayfair Road and [...]

So, I did today’s 2 miles. I get back to work, get cleaned up, and plug the Garmin into the computer to see how the numbers turned out.
And stared at the screen in amazement!
Now, I am not a fast runner. I typically run 11-12 minute miles. Today though, [...]
Monday’s run

No, it was not at 5:30am. I’ve been so exhausted in the morning, that when the alarm goes off at 5am, I either hit the snooze or manage to turn it off and go back to sleep until much later. I need to get back to the early morning routine, but in the [...]

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a week since I’ve posted. I apologize to my readers (all five of you!) and myself. Writing really does help me through the week. I mean to put something down, and never do.
First, we had the first group training for Team Challenge Kona/Napa last Saturday.
It was a [...]

Thursday, I finally made it back to InStep to try on some different shoes. And like last year, I stuck with the Asics, going for the updated model of my current shoes. Today’s miles were the first time out in them, and they felt pretty good. It’s easy to forget how important good [...]
Group Training Begins

Today was the first day of group training for Team Challenge. Being that the temps outside are still chilly, and we did just have a layer of ice over everything yesterday, we met at the Petit Center, and ran laps there.
We were running for time today, not distance, and that thirty minutes [...]
Running on snow is hard

What are those things called, Yax Trax or something? Maybe I should look into getting a pair after all. Even though the snow is going to melt and be gone soon, right? RIGHT?
I felt lazy this morning and didn’t want to schlep to the gym. Instead, I opted for just running [...]
