I owe you a race recap (which may or may not happen, as the race was 6 weeks ago!). The short of it is – I made it, fastest time yet, and tk and jd and Charles Dinersign (did I get that right?) were there to greet me. It was truly awesome.
Since the [...]

In flight. Adele in my ears, and two hours left to go.
Race day is Sunday. The past two months have been a bit of a blur, and yet, here I am. Life outside running has gone haywire since the May race. I began to write a few times, and [...]

Tuesday was our travel day, back to Milwaukee. But Tuesday was also the day we were going to visit tk! I was looking forward to it the whole trip.
I talked to jd the night before, and asked if there was anything I could bring her. He indicated that she might ask for a coffee cake [...]

When last I visited upon an update of our dear tk, she was getting set to try tysabri, the drug newly approved for treatment of Crohn’s disease. She was released from the hospital on a Thursday afternoon, so she could go to the infusion center on Friday.
Well, let’s just say that she was not destined to [...]

I was able to make an appointment with a sports med doc for July 2. Not ideal, but hey, better than nothing.
His nurse just called to get some preliminary information, and based upon what I told her, moved my appointment to noon, tomorrow. She thought it best to get me in ASAP to rule out [...]

TK is in the trenches today, so please say a prayer or think good thoughts for her and her husband, JD. She’s got a long road ahead of her.
My leg is feeling much better now, and I fully expect to be lacing up my shoes for training runs both Saturday and Sunday.
Mom is coming up [...]

For those of you not on certain other avenues of communication, here is an update on our lovely TK. I am paraphrasing to start, then copying her word-for-word:
She had a sigmoidoscopy earlier this week, and the results are in. Since she “had the surgery to reconnect on may 27, the entire 8 inches of colon/rectum left has [...]

I added new music to the iPod Monday afternoon, and yet this morning, I listened to the same old stuff during my five mile run. Annoyed for a moment, I chose to let it play on, other than futz with it and change it up. Going with the familiar tunes turned out to be a [...]

TK Update: She came through surgery just fine, and is on to recovery!
Biked to work again today. It was rather cold, but once I stopped thinking about my fingers freezing off, they ceased to bother me.
Interesting things today:
Deer to the left after crossing Beloit road. I need to remember to put the camera in an accessible [...]

First things first – please keep TK in your thoughts today. She’s got a lot going on, and today is her surgery to remove more of her innards. I know I’ll be sending good thoughts her way (for many reasons!) and ask that you do too. I think she is the awesome-y and tk I did [...]

During the next 16 weeks, I expect (and hope) to go through a lot of changes. Not only physically, but mentally as well. The first step in this began when I challenged my boundaries by joining Team Challenge in the first place – setting a goal of raisings funds for a good cause. I’ve always [...]
