Since I was up this morning at 6:30, I decided to go for a small run around the block. 1.15 miles, just enough to test the waters, so to speak. In reality, I could have gone for more probably, because that distance felt just enough to be a warm up!
But I completed the [...]

Time flies!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a week since I’ve posted.  I apologize to my readers (all five of you!) and myself.  Writing really does help me through the week.  I mean to put something down, and never do.
First, we had the first group training for Team Challenge Kona/Napa last Saturday.
It was a [...]

Thursday, I finally made it back to InStep to try on some different shoes. And like last year, I stuck with the Asics, going for the updated model of my current shoes. Today’s miles were the first time out in them, and they felt pretty good.  It’s easy to forget how important good [...]

So it begins

Today I start following an Official Training Plan for the half marathon.
Of course, I don’t suppose that sleeping in this morning was a good way to start it, but such is life. I’m prepared to go run three miles either at the gym during lunch, or after work. Not certain which one is [...]

I got out and ran just under 2 miles this morning.  Just an easy run, nothing too strenuous.  The first mile went fine, after some wonkiness with the HRM not communicating correctly between the strap and the watch.  Second mile, well, I did shorter run/walk intervals.
Groin muscle still not happy, apparently.  But I’ll be resting [...]

Team Challenge National Team had our weekly conference call last night.  Good information all around, as always.  I was able to ask Coach Melissa about my lower calf pain, which got progressively worse yesterday.  (Thanks to Elle for your suggestions.  Massaging it did indeed help, along with icing it last night.)
Melissa said to rest it [...]

Tonight, it’s house cleaning, and laundry.  Mostly to get this place in a shape that I don’t have to put a ton of effort in this week while I’m focusing on my training plan.
Tomorrow is scheduled to be “active recovery” day, which means “do something physical other than run”.  Swim, bike, core exercises, stretching, that [...]
